Agility

Agility

Dog agility is a dog sport in which a handler directs a dog through an obstacle course in a race for both time and accuracy. 

Once you have completed your 'Essential Skills' course, you can join 'The Nelson Dog Training Club' and attend classes to train in 'Agility'.  

AGILITY BRONZE

Criteria - Completion of the ‘Essential Skills’ class.  Reliable recall.  Some basic obedience training.  Dogs must be over 14 months old.
Course Duration – 12 weeks.
Course Content – Circle work, recalls, focus work, foundation contact training, rear cross and front cross foundation, foundation weave pole training.
Cost - $60
Time – Saturday 9am-10.30am.
Where to after that? – Proceed to the SILVER course.

 

AGILITY SILVER

Criteria – Completion of the BRONZE Class.  Dogs must be 16 months old.
Course Duration – 12 weeks.
Course Content – Learning the equipment.  Continuing with contacts and weave pole training.
Cost – No cost, but must be a club member.
Time – Saturday 9am-10.30am.
Where to after that? – Become a club member for $60 per year and proceed to the GOLD class.  Whether you compete or just have fun is entirely up to you.

 

AGILITY GOLD

Criteria – Completion of the SILVER Class and Silver certificate.  Club membership.
Course Duration – Ongoing
Course Content – Sequence training and any other areas where individuals may be having difficulty.
Time – Saturday 9.00am.
Where to after that? – Graduation to the Novice level class and receivership of a Gold Certificate.
